Abualy Alibhai Aziz Collection
The Abualy Alibhai Aziz Collection consists of more than 12,000 items including audiovisual material, documents, ephemera, lithographs, manuscripts, periodicals, photographs, and printed books in, among other languages, Arabic, English, Gujarati, Khwajah Sindhi (Khojki), Persian, and Urdu. Donated by the late Tajbibi Abualy Aziz, these holdings represent an unparalleled archive of literary and devotional texts and of Islamicate learning, with particular strengths in Shi’ism and especially Ismaili history and intellectual traditions. The provenance of the materials reflects Abualy Alibhai’s wide-ranging scholarly and collecting interests across continents, specifically his close personal ties to South Asia, East Africa, and North America.
The Abualy Alibhai Aziz Collection is supported by the Elahé Omidyar Mir-Djalali Institute of Iranian Studies.
